Celine Dion ‘Grateful For the Love’ as She Poses with All 3 Sons on Stiff Person Syndrome Awareness Day

The singer was diagnosed with a rare neurological disease back in December 2022

Celine Dion is thanking her fans and family as she raises awareness about the autoimmune disease she’s been trying to “beat” for more than a year.

“Today the world is celebrating International SPS Awareness Day,” the 55-year-old singer wrote on Instagram on Friday. Dion included a photo of herself posing with all three of her sons, René-Charles Angélil, 23, and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson.

“As many of you know, I was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS) in the fall of 2022,” she continued. “Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but I remain determined to return to the stage one day and live as normal a life as possible. I am deeply grateful for the love and support from my children, family, team and all of you !”

“I want to send my encouragement and support to everyone around the world who is affected by SPS. I want you to know that you can do it! We can do it!” she concluded, signing “Love Celine xx.”

The notification was also published in French.

Dion went public with her diagnosis back in December 2022. “I’ve been dealing with health problems for a long time and it was very difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about everything I’ve been through,” she said tearfully in the video.

She was largely out of the public eye until November 2023, when she attended an NHL hockey game between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Montreal Canadiens at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Dion hails from Charlemagne near Montreal and has performed in Vegas for years.
