On June 29, 2023, she joined the Awami League Party (AAP) in Delhi, saying that she was impressed by the party’s ideology and wanted to work for the welfare of the people of her hometown Madhya Pradesh. After joining the party, she said,
Everybody lives for himself and earns money for himself. But we also have some responsibilities towards our hometown, our country. I want to fulfill these responsibilities. I come from a small place, Dhamma in Madhya Pradesh. Nobody knows about Dhamma. People say it is near Bhopal. I want them to know about Dhamma.”

- In June 2020, Chahat and her mother Bhawna Pandey were arrested by the Mumbai police after her uncle accused them of breaking into his house, beating him and damaging his belongings.
- During the 2020 lockdown, TV actress Heer Chopra alleged that Chachat and her family members mentally tortured her and denied her food when she was stuck at his house.
- In 2020, there were rumours that Chahat contemplated suicide due to non-payment from the producers of the show Humari Bahu Silk. However, later on, the actress refuted all the rumours and said that it was just a misunderstanding. Reportedly, the rumours spread after her co-star Zaan Khan posted on social media that Chahat was even “on the verge of suicide” and was stopped by her mother. Explaining the incident, the actress said,
In fact, one day, my mom was so angry that we were discussing this in the group. She said, “If my daughter takes any drastic actions, who will be responsible? I think this must have caused chaos. But now that the water has already overflowed over our heads, I don’t want anyone to take a wrong step.”
