Chainsaw Man’s Makima Gets a Retro-Anime Makeover in New Fan-Poster

In an incredible fan-made poster for the manga (and now anime series) Chainsaw Man, fan-favorite character Makima takes center stage in the retro anime-inspired artwork.

A fan-favorite of many and high-ranking Public Safety Devil Hunter, Chainsaw Man’s Makima is a cold and cunning leader who will stop at nothing to rid the world of devils. In addition to her incredible strength and intellect, Makima’s commanding presence make it difficult not to follow her orders . This is an incredibly useful ability in the fight against the fiendish devils that inhabit the world of Chainsaw Man, making her an extremely effective Devil Hunter feared by many.

Posted recently to Twitter by username @ryosuketarou, Takeuchi Ryosuke is an artist who draws “my favorite Manga, anime, and game characters in my own way”. Takeuchi is constantly sharing artwork from a variety of anime series including Hunter x Hunter, Spy x Family, and most recently the global phenomenon that is Chainsaw Man. Takeuchi puts all of their artistic talent on display with their retro-inspired character poster of Chainsaw Man’s Makima. The yellow and pink colors combined with the wavy font at the center of the poster give the artwork a distinctly retro vibe, almost like a piece of art from the 1960s or 1970s. A long with the image, Takeuchi congratulates the series on its recent collaboration with the game Monster Strike.

Makima is the head of the Tokyo Special Division 4, and this fanart places her front and center ahead of the rest of the other Special Division Devil Hunters. Makima sees herself as the one always in control and sees Denji’s powerful Chainsaw Man devil powers devil as an incredibly useful tool. This fanart portrays Denji in his Chainsaw Man form and not in his human form, representing how Makima sees him as a weapon and tool for her own game and not as an individual. Takeuchi’s art captures the grace of Makima in gorgeous full color, while also highlighting the whimsy and often humorous tone of Chainsaw Man Manga and anime.

Takeuchi’s (@ryosuketarou) retro-inspired fanart beautifully highlights one of Chainsaw Man’s most popular (and deadly) characters, hearkening back to classic anime like Space Pirate Captain Harlock and the original Mobile Suit Gundam. Fans of awesome artwork and popular anime like Chainsaw Man should be sure to check out Takeuchi’s page and stay up to date with all of their artwork.
