Chandan Shetty is an Indian singer, lyricist, rapper and music composer who works primarily in the Kannada film industry. He rose to fame with his solo song “Halagode”. He is known as “Kannada Rapper Chandan Shetty”.

He was educated at Rotary School in Karnataka and then went to St. Philomena, Puttur to complete his PUC. He attended Vidya Vikas First Class College, Mysore, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business management. After graduation, Shetty started working as a call center supervisor in Mysore. He worked there for about a year. Thereafter, he met famous music director Arjun Janya through Chiranjeevi Sarja and started working under him as assistant music director and lyricist.

Chandan Shetty started his career as a lyricist and assistant music director in 2012 with the Kannada film Alemari. He subsequently worked as lyricist, music director and music composer in films such as Varadanayaka, Power, Chakravyuha and Bhajarangi. Chandan made his debut in 2015 with the solo song “Halagode”. The song was a huge hit and established Chandan as a singer.
In 2017, he participated in the game reality show “Bigg Boss Kannada Season 5” and became the winner of the show. He took home the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5 million. In the same year, he made his acting debut with the film Vichitra Prema Kathe.

Chandan was embroiled in controversy after he proposed to his girlfriend Niveditha Gowda on Mysuru Dasara’s popular event Yuva Dasara. During one of the performances, Chandan got down on his knees and expressed his love to his lady, but since it was a government-sponsored show, this was not well received. V. Somanna, the minister in charge of Mysore affairs, expressed anger at the act and asked the police to issue show-cause notices to them for using a public platform to deal with private matters.
