On September 7, 2023, Chandra Kumar Bose announced his resignation from the Bharatiya Janata Party. In an interview, he explained that he could no longer work with the party because he disagreed with its divisive actions that had ruined their chances in West Bengal. He said,
I made many suggestions to the party about how we should work, but they were not accepted. The party is on the wrong path in Bengal. Polarization, vote bank politics and divisive politics have ruined our chances in Bengal. “
