Channing Tatum Reacts to Ryan Reynolds Promising He'd Reprise Deadpool Role in a Gambit Movie: 'Binding Contract'

Channing Tatum hopes that he and Ryan Reynolds could get back together on the big screen in the future.

On Tuesday, November 12 Blink twice actor, 44, reposted a message from Reynolds, 48, on Instagram, hinting that she would be joining his Deadpool & Wolverine costar for another project if the opportunity arises. Tatum acted The X-Men hero Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverinefulfilling a decade-long dream to play a character on screen.

Reynolds’ first upload was his own quote, shared on September 7 in an Instagram post by Marvel fan account MCU.Portal. The post included a quote from Reynolds, in which he promised to make a Deadpool cameo in a solo Gambit movie if necessary.

“When he makes a Gambit movie, I’m going to return the favor,” Reynolds wrote in a previous Instagram Story, referring to Tatum’s character in the 2024 summer blockbuster. “If he needs Deadpool, I can do it. Someone to provide the plant with fresh orange slices, no problem. Call it.”

In Tuesday’s response, Tatum called his colleague “the best man ever.”

“Also, this is a binding contract,” he said Magic Mike added the actor. At the bottom of his Instagram Story, Tatum added a gold “True Story” gif.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly‘s Awardist podcast earlier this month, Reynolds — who not only played one of the two titular characters in the Marvel film, but also served as a writer and executive producer — said, though he’s not sure if Deadpool & Wolverine see another sequel, it’s safe to say that Tatum did a spectacular job.

“I honestly don’t know what goes on behind closed doors in the accounting meetings at Marvel, but I know they’re obsessed with him in the role,” Reynolds said of Tatum’s gambit. “It’s like the same situation I went through. Once you show it works well, that’s really what they need. Sometimes they just need to see it in action.”

“And Channing is so unique in how he plays that character,” Reynolds said, adding, “but he’s also so beautiful physically, the way he moves and the way he can pick his steps.”

Meanwhile, Tatum – who recently split from fiancee Zoë Kravitz after three years together – will star alongside the actress, 35, in the film titled Alpha gang. The Zellner brothers’ upcoming film, starring and produced by Cate Blanchett, will also star Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Lé Seydoux and Riley Keough.

“They will continue to work together and are excited about the new project. They both love to shoot and create. Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë’s focus and passion,” a source told PEOPLE.
