Group chat FOMO has never been more real.
Chariah Gordon gave PEOPLE an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the group chat she has with the Kansas City Chiefs’ WAGs, between what the women discuss on game day and why they turn to text to chat.
“We’re having a group conversation,” Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr.’s fiancee tells PEOPLE. “There’s a little bit of everything in this group chat.”
Although it includes the players’ partners, Gordon made it clear that the group of WAGs is “not subject to football”. She explains, “There was debate, there was clothing… there was, ‘Do we want to go to the gym? Do you want to go to Bible study?’ There’s, ‘Hey, who wants to go eat today?'”
Gordon, known for her game-day looks that she styles herself, says the outfits are a big topic of conversation in their group chat. “I would pick out my own outfit and send it to a group chat like, ‘Hey, do you like this? Do you like that?’

Football is, of course, still talked about. “There’s a little bit in there,” Gordon is sure to add. In fact, the group chat is especially busy when the matches are in progress and all eyes are on their partners on the pitch.
“When someone’s guy does well or gets hurt or something, we check each other out,” Gordon says. “We say things like, ‘Oh, your man just scored a touchdown. Whoop!’ We’re just there supporting each other.”

As fun as the group chat is for the Kansas City Chiefs WAGs, Gordon also sees it as a sense of community. “I think it’s something I really love and enjoy because we’re all away from our real friends, our family.”
“We started new lives, we have kids and we’re doing it together,” continues the mom of two, who shares son Mecole III and daughter Ci with Hardman Jr. “All the kids want to go to the park? You all want to go to the pool?” Gordon says about the questions asked in the chat.
Above all, Gordon says group chat is a “comfortable” and “safe space for ladies” to prioritize and a place to “be themselves, get to know each other, vent, vent.” She adds, “Whatever you need to do in that group chat is safe.”
