In an interview with Spout Podcast on Monday, the “Boys” singer, 31, who is engaged to 1975 drummer George Daniel, spoke for the first time about the “whole new dynamic” of making music with a romantic partner.

While discussing the creative process for her upcoming sixth studio album, Charli opened up about working with Daniel, 33.

“We did a few things together. He’s not really into it, but we have a few ideas in the works,” she said.

Charli (whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison) added: “It’s funny, I’ve never been in a relationship with anyone I’ve worked with, so it’s like a whole new dynamic. But it’s great. There will be a few songs that he worked on with me.”

The Grammy-nominated singer first linked up with The 1975 and Daniel in 2021 while working on the collaborative single “Spinning” with No Romeo, and Charli’s fiancé later produced various tracks on her 2022 album. The pop star first quietly shared the news on Monday by posting her engagement ring on her private Instagram account for her fans, before making it official by sharing photos with the indie-pop artist and producer on her public Instagram.

In her first post, Charli shared a casual selfie, in which she flashed a diamond ring on her hand. In her more official social media post, she posted a carousel of the two embracing and a tea tray with an engagement ring box on top, seemingly revealing how the producer had proposed to her.

She confirmed the news with a cheeky caption, adding, “charli xcx and george daniel are fucking for life!!!”
