Charli XCX Tells Fans 'Please Stop' Chanting 'Taylor Swift Is Dead' at Her Concerts: 'I Will Not Tolerate It'

Charli XCX has a zero-tolerance policy for negativity — especially Taylor Swift haters.

On Sunday, June 23, the “360” singer, 31, took the moment to address some of her fans who have recently made the “Fortnight” pop star, 34, the target of a hate campaign, with some criticizing her online and even led the songs “Taylor Swift Is Dead” at the concerts of the former.

“Can the people who are doing this please stop. Online or at my shows,” Charli wrote in an Instagram Story, which included a screenshot of an X (formerly Twitter) user who brought the rude rants to her attention.

“It’s the opposite of what I want and it bothers me that someone thinks there’s a place for that in this community,” she added. “I will not tolerate it.”

The original video, which referenced Charli and the “toxic behavior” displayed by fans, was released after the singer’s performance in São Paulo, Brazil on June 22. The caption read: “Hey @charli_xcx your Brazilian fans are showing toxic behavior screaming ‘Taylor is dead!’ at your concerts and related events? You don’t believe that should be the topic @taylornation13.”

The chants and posts began after fans mistakenly assumed Charli’s song “Sympathy Is a Knife” was about her insecurities around Swift. Charli previously opened for Swift on her 1989 stadium tour, alongside Camila Cabello.

The day after her performance, Charli wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram to fans who attended her shows in Brazil and Mexico last week, writing, “to all the angels I met at cdmx and São Paulo, thank you for being so kind and sweet !!!”

“Your energy at these shows was truly unmatched and I’m so happy I got to DJ a girl such a confusing version for the first time ever while partying with you,” she continued, referring to the remix she released on Friday, June 21, with Lord. “emotional moment fr. seriously – I love you all forever and you are so julia <3.”
