Charlie Hunnam to Play Serial Killer Ed Gein in Season 3 of Ryan Murphy’s Monster

Charlie Hunnam is Ryan Murphy’s latest star Monster series.

The Sons of Anarchy the actor, 44, is set to play serial killer Ed Gein in the show’s third season.

Murphy announced the news at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez on Monday, September 16, and production is scheduled to begin in October.

According to DiversityGein — who was from Wisconsin — rose to prominence in the 1950s after it was discovered that he had killed multiple people and dug up graves near his home. He then fashioned the corpses into household items and clothing.

Hunnam’s Monster news comes before the show the second season premieres globally on Thursday, September 19, which follows the brothers Lyle and Erik Menendezwho killed their parents José and Kitty Menéndez in 1989.

Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monster’ Season 2 on Netflix Will Ask ‘What Happened?’ in the murders of the Menéndez brothers

The true crime anthology features some of America’s most high-profile murder stories.

Continuation of the 1st season DAHMER — The Monster: The Story of Jeffrey Dahmer saw Evan Peters play Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial killer who killed and dismembered seventeen men between 1978 and 1991.

The season — which also starred Niecey Nash as Glenda Cleveland, Dahmer’s next-door neighbor — famously reached one billion hours of viewing in the first 60 days after it aired.

This puts it in the record books as only one of four Netflix series to achieve the triumph. It is also the third most popular English-language series on the streaming network.

After the success of the first season, Netflix ordered two more parts of the series created by Murphy and Ian Brennan.

Monsters: The Story of Lyle and Erik Menendez is released on Netflix on Thursday, September 19.
