Chase Stokes Says Girlfriend Kelsea Ballerini Gives His Style a Dose of ‘Yeehaw’ (Exclusive)

Kelsea Ballerini’s country style is noticed by her boyfriend Chase Stokes.

On Monday, Foreign banks actor, 31, walked the red carpet at the CFDA Fashion Awards, where he revealed to PEOPLE how his country singer girlfriend has influenced his look.

“Honestly, she bothered me a little bit,” Stokes tells PEOPLE of Ballerini, 30. “I mean, I grew up in the South, so it’s like I’m not completely there, but she definitely brought it out of me.”

Stokes, who wore a blue suit by American Designer of the Year nominee Teddy Vonranson, also said that he and Ballerini have influenced each other’s style since they were dating. However, one of their most impressive coordinated looks was purely “accidental luck”.

The actor revealed that he and Ballerini didn’t plan on wearing the same red ensembles at the 2023 VMAs, but fate intervened in the form of a missed flight.

“Everyone thought the VMAs were coordinated, but it was a look I was going to wear for something else,” she reveals. “Then I missed my flight, so I couldn’t wear it. Then I was like, ‘Okay, this kind of worked.'”

Kelsea Ballerina and Chase Stokes Relationship Timeline

Stokes and Ballerini first sparked dating rumors in January 2023 when Stokes shared a photo on Instagram of him and the “If You Go Down” singer cuddling up at a Georgia vs. TCU game at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. They later made their red carpet debut as a couple at the CMT Awards in April.

In the interview for June with Party tonightStokes addressed what the internet is calling Ballerina’s “golden retriever boyfriend.”

“I’ll take the job, I’ll take it,” he said. “She really is the best human being on planet earth and she’s so damn talented.”
