Cheran Pandiyan is an Indian actor, director, writer and producer.

Cheran was born on 12 December 1965 in Pazhayoorpatti near Madurai, Tamil Nadu (53 years; age 2018). It was his childhood dream to enter the world of glamor. While he was still in school, he started acting in plays and plays. He rose to fame in 2004, playing the role of Senthil Kumar in the Tamil film Autograph.
In the initial stages of his career, Cheran worked as a production manager and assistant director. He made his directorial debut in 1997 with the film Bharathi Kannamma. Cheran ventured into acting with the film Porkkaalam.

Cheran was born into a Hindu family. He belongs to the scheduled caste community. His father Pandian is a projector operator at Vellalur Touring Theatre, while his mother Kamala is a primary school teacher. Chelan has two sisters.
Cheran is married to Selvarani and the couple has two daughters: Dhamini and Nivedha Priyadarshini (filmmaker).
Profession
Cheran Pandiyan started his career as a production manager. He worked as an assistant director in director KS Ravikumar’s film Puriyaadha Pudhir. He also served as the assistant director of the movie Mahanadi starring Kamal Haasan. He served as assistant/assistant director on nearly 11 films. Cheran marked his debut as a director with 1997’s “Bharathi Kannamma”. His directorial debut was remade in Kannada as Usire (2001).
Cheran turned actor-director with the Tamil film Porkkaalam. In 2004, he played the lead role of “Senthil Kumar” in the Tamil film “Autograph”. Chelan not only stars in “Signed,” but is also the film’s director, writer, and producer. The film went on to become a hit and was screened four times at the World Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
Cheran has produced Autograph (2004), Azagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu (2006), Aadum Koothu (2007), Muran (2011) and JK Enum Nanbanin Vaazhkai (2015) Year).
In 2014, Cheran founded “C2H” (Cinema2Home) to curb widespread copyright infringement issues in the Tamil film industry.
In 2019, he appeared as a contestant in the third season of the reality show Bigg Boss (Tamil).

- In 2013, Cheran’s daughter Damini accused him of threatening boys with whom she was in a relationship. Damini filed a complaint against him and claimed that her father was against her relationship with a man named ‘Chandrasekhar’ (Chandru). In the Madras High Court, Damini said she wanted to live with Chandru’s mother but later decided to live with her parents.
- In 2016, at the audio launch of Tamil film Kanna Pinna, Cheran slammed Sri Lankan Tamils for unauthorized copying of Tamil films. He said: “I learned that it was Sri Lankan Tamils who released new films through illegal means and leaked them online. The film industry has raised its voice in support of Sri Lankan Tamils many times. Now that I think about it, I feel guilty for supporting those who cannibalize us. Shame on the people whose money keeps us in poverty.”
- In 2017, Cheran wrote a seven-page letter accusing Nadiga Sangam secretary-general Vishal of being “selfish, power-hungry and insensitive”.
- He also accused South Indian actor Karthi and Nadiga Sangam general secretary Vishal of disrespecting him when Cheran approached them for a film.
