Cher’s Son Elijah Blue Allman Moves to Dismiss Divorce from Wife amid Singer’s Conservatorship Filing

Elijah Blue Allman has filed to dismiss his divorce from wife Marieangela King, days before a custody hearing is scheduled to take place.

On Tuesday, Allman — who filed for divorce from King in 2021 — filed for dismissal “without prejudice,” according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. The move comes days before he is expected to appear in court for a custody hearing initiated by mum Cher.

King and Allman’s attorney did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

In court documents released last September, King accused Infatuated with the moon actress, 77, about hiring four men to kidnap her estranged husband in late 2022.

In October, King said she hadn’t seen Allman, 47, since late April, shortly after they agreed to “work on [their] marriage” in the midst of their divorce. King — who is professionally known as Queenie — claims that Cher continued to “interfere” with her son’s “health management as well as his location and accessibility” during that time.

King claimed in the declaration that after agreeing to stay their divorce proceedings in “six months of discovery and litigation” on April 21, Elijah — who was living with her at the time — “disappeared” and she “hasn’t seen him in person since April.”

“It feels like he wasted my time, and this is Courts’ time,” said frontwoman King.

King also stated that due to Allman’s “lack of effort in practice [their] marriage,” she asked to pay her legal fees and continued spousal support, in addition to the $40,000 in spousal support she claimed he still owed her.

Cher spoke to PEOPLE in early October about the allegations involving her second and youngest son, whom she welcomed on July 10, 1976, with the late Gregg Allman of The Allman Brothers Band.

Cher said “that rumor is not true” and declined to comment further, but confirmed that the private family matter was related to her son’s addiction issues.

“I don’t suffer from any problem that millions of people in the United States don’t have,” she said, watching her son’s long-term struggles with substance abuse. “I am a mother. This is my job — to try to help my children in one way or another. You do everything for your children. Whenever you can help them, just do it because that’s what being a mother is all about. But it’s a joy, even with the heartache – mostly, when you think of your children, you just smile and love them, and try to be there for them.”

Meanwhile in December, Cher filed for custody of her son, claiming he is “essentially unable to manage his own financial resources.” In the filing, Cher also claimed that King was unfit to be his guardian because “their tumultuous relationship was marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”

The hearing for the temporary settlement is currently scheduled for Friday, and the hearing for the permanent settlement is scheduled for March 6.
