Chris Sarandon has been happily married to Joanna Gleason for over three decades. They met on the set of the Broadway musical Nick and Nora in 1994, and after a long time together they fell in love. They returned to the stage four years later in Thorn and Bloom, and have since appeared in films such as Road Ends, Edie & Pen, Let the Devil Wear Black and American Perfect.

Chris Sarandon and his first wife Susan Sarandon
In September 1967, Chris married actress Susan Sarandon, then known as Susan Tomalin. They were married for 12 years until divorcing in 1979. Susan used her husband’s last name as her stage name. During her March 2021 visit to the Divorced, Not Dead podcast, she discussed her previous relationships with boyfriends she’s been with, including Chris. Susan met Chris at the Catholic University of America when she was 17 years old.
“Eventually we started dating.” Finally my first sexual encounter. I was overjoyed. I just got married because we were about to be kicked out of school. So we decided to decide whether or not to renew every year,” the Oscar winner told host Caroline Stanbury.
Susan added that after seven years of marriage, they decided to “move on together” and that few people can stay married their whole lives to the first person they slept with. She further said that she never wanted to get married and was never interested in the concept of marriage. The Thelma & Louise actress indicated that it was due to the fear of losing individuality, which is common in relationships.
What’s Chris Sarandon up to these days?
Chris married his second wife, model Lisa Ann Cooper, in 1980 after divorcing Susan. They were happily married for nine years and had three children: Stephanie Sarandon, Michael Sarandon and Alexis Sarandon. Unfortunately, Chris and his wife were not meant to be and they divorced in 1989.
No information is available on Sarandon’s second wife or children. The actor is currently 80 years old, and although he is not as active in the profession as he used to be, he still works today.
