Chris Young’s lawyer demands that TABC “drop the charges” against the singer and “apologize” for the arrest

The arrest occurred after Young and his friends allegedly followed Liquor Commission agents from the Tin Roof bar to the DawgHouse, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

According to the affidavit, the musician spoke with TABC agents who were checking the Tin Roof bar’s ABC cards and recorded the moment. After the agents conducted a compliance check at the DawgHouse and wanted to exit the location, Young allegedly reached over and “punched” one of them on the shoulder.

He then allegedly “began yelling and screaming,” refusing to follow the instructions of the agent who was speaking to him after the agent pushed him away.

PEOPLE obtained a video of the moments before the arrest that contradicted some information. The video showed Young reaching out to the TABC agent, who responded by shoving the musician, causing him to lose his footing and fall backwards over a table and chair. The singer is then seen standing up, raising his hands and backing away.

After the video was released, his attorney, Bill Ramsey, told PEOPLE in a statement, “What happened to my client Chris Young at a bar in Nashville on Monday night was wrong and he should not have been arrested and charged in the first place. In light of the video evidence, Tennessee ABC must drop the charges and apologize for the physical, emotional and professional harm caused to my client.”

Young’s next album, Young love and Saturday nights, will be released on March 22.
