Christie Brinkley, 70, Bares Her Abs in Bra Top: ‘Finally Happy with the Person Looking Back at Me’ 

Christie Brinkley is beaming with happiness after turning 70!

The supermodel reflected on reaching the milestone on February 2 by penning a short poem explaining why she’s “finally happy”.

“I look in the mirror on my 70th birthday and what do I see? I’m finally happy with the person who looks back at me. I’m no longer critical and demanding, now I’m grateful and understanding,” the song began.

Brinkley shared the song in an Instagram post that included three selfies of her grinning from ear to ear, wearing a white Alo sports bra and black ankle-length leggings that showed off her famous supermodel figure.

“I put this body through it,” the song continues. “I broke every bone. In small miracles, I’m all healed. I’m home in my heart and soul. It took 70 years to get here. In tears and joy I found my happiness. So now I’ll finish this song before I become too angry! Happy birthday indeed!”

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit icon and entrepreneur celebrated her birthday by traveling to Turks & Caicos. She chronicled the getaway in a series of Instagram posts, including photos of her boating, diving and relaxing on the beach.

Another post included photos from a surprise birthday party planned by her children, Jack Brinkley-Cook and Sailor Brinkley-Cook. “We had dinner and danced under the stars. It was a magical night,” Brinkley shared.

While speaking with PEOPLE in January, Brinkley shared that she’s looking forward to a new year of life “with a lot of respect and emotion.”

“I think 70 is very similar to 50, because it’s a time when you look back and look forward,” she told PEOPLE. Brinkley noted that the “steady march” to 70 carried some weight.

“The big 7-0 is another one of them [ages] it’s worse in the sheer numbers of blocks that tower over. At 62, you start thinking, ‘Well, I did almost 70.’ It cast a shadow over that whole decade,” Brinkley said. The milestone made her look back on each day with gratitude.

“I want to keep pushing forward and have a lot of dreams and chase them and follow them and live them,” she told PEOPLE.
