Christina Aguilera Says Her Son and Daughter Raid Her Closet: They 'Have Good Personal Style' (Exclusive) 

Christina Aguilera’s closet at home is not off limits.

The “Genie in a Bottle” singer and mom of two tells PEOPLE exclusively that her teenage son Max, 16, and pre-teen daughter Summer, 10, are allowed to borrow her pieces whenever they want.

“It’s fun to see them wear things in different ways than I do and reinterpret my fashion choices in ways that make them their own,” the Grammy winner, 43, tells PEOPLE.

Aguilera’s kids definitely embrace her cool fashion choices. On Nov. 19, she gave fans a glimpse into her kids’ personal styles with a family photo shared on Instagram that showed Max rocking a grungy graphic tee, camouflage cargo pants, a hat and sunglasses, and Summer in a casual black outfit with high sneakers.

The pop star says Max usually gravitates towards her chain accessories and Chrome Hearts pieces. Summer, on the other hand, loves wearing her shoes, but Aguilera admits she thinks her mini will “definitely outgrow her” so she’s not sure how long it will last.

“They both have good personal style and know exactly who they are. I’ve always raised them to express their uniqueness,” she adds.

Great fashion tips and desirable clothes aren’t the only things Aguilera passes on to her kids.

“Defining beauty to me is feeling comfortable in your own skin, and that’s a message I always try to encourage my children to instill in themselves,” she tells PEOPLE. “No one else can define what beauty means to you. I enjoy creative expression, and that comes from different styles and looks,” she says.

He reminds us of this not only on stage, but also tries to live authentically in his everyday life.

Summer recently joined Aguilera at the re-opening of H&M’s flagship store in New York’s Times Square

Looking festive and ready to party, the singer cut the ribbon wearing gold hot pants from the brand’s holiday collection. Her daughter was wearing a baggy tracksuit, jeans and sneakers.

Although she leaned into her glamorous style at the Nov. 21 event, Aguilera says she can’t wait to celebrate her cozy family-style tradition with Christmas less than a month away. “Comfy Christmas pajamas are a big thing for us! That includes fun onesies and socks,” she revealed.
