Christine Costner’s Lawyer Says Financier Josh Connor ‘Nothing More’ Than Friend amid Kevin Costner Divorce

Financier Josh Connor is just a friend of Christina Costner, her lawyer said in court Thursday as her divorce from estranged husband Kevin Costner continues.

Both Christine, 49, and Kevin, 68, appeared in a Santa Barbara, California court on Thursday for a child support hearing. At one point, Christina’s attorney, John Rydell, stated that Connor was just Christina’s friend and “nothing more than that.”

During the hearing, Rydell said Christine’s brother gave her $80,000 in child support during the divorce this summer. Rydell also said Connor loaned Christine $20,000 this summer when she appeared to be “in trouble.” Christine and Connor were previously seen spending time together in Hawaii in July while Christine was on vacation with her children. The sighting comes more than two months after Christine originally filed for divorce from Kevin on May 1. She stated that their separation date is April 11.

Christine’s attorney told the court Thursday that Connor loaned her $20,000 after that July vacation in Hawaii. Christine said she slept in the same room with another friend during the trip, not Connor, and answered “no” when asked if Connor was her boyfriend. She also said he financed the trip to Hawaii for “everyone.”

Before the hearing, Kevin’s legal team said in court documents that he did not have an affair while he was married to Christine after Christine’s lawyers requested information about any “expenses paid by you or any person at your request or on your behalf , which refer to any extramarital romantic relationships.”

Kevin’s lawyers also argued that he “doesn’t know for sure if [Christine] whether he was engaged in any ‘extramarital romantic affairs’ prior to the separation and, if so, whether she spent any of his money or charged any expenses in furtherance of her affair on credit cards that he paid for.”

His side added, “[Kevin] he doesn’t have the proper documents for the ‘extra-marital affairs’ he’s engaged in because he hasn’t had any.”

Christine and Kevin are scheduled to go to trial in November to determine the validity of their prenuptial agreement. The deal entitles Christine to a $1.5 million payout, which she previously indicated she felt “pressured” to sign.
