Christine Ko Plays As A Lily In “The Handmaid’s Tale” Season 5

Christine Ko will appear in Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale, based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 book of the same name. Season five of the dystopian drama will be available on Hulu beginning September 14, 2022. The Handmaid’s Tale is an American dystopian television series set during the Second American Civil War, in which a totalitarian regime known as the Republic of Gilead overthrows the US government and subjects its fertile women, known as Handmaids, to child-bearing enslavement.

The series, like its predecessors, examines the subject of oppressed women in patriarchal societies and their quest for freedom from enslavement.  Ko, who played Mandi in Prime  Video’s Upload, will play Lily, a former Martha who is now a leader in the Canada-based resistance movement.  Continue reading to learn more about Christine Ko from The Handmaid’s Tale season 5.

Christin Ko was a Taiwanese actress

Christine Ko is a Taiwanese-American actress who will play Lily in the fifth season of Hulu’s award-winning series The Handmaid’s Tale.  Ko is well-known for her parts in television programs such as Upload, The Great Indoors, and Dave, among others. Ko briefly worked as an actress in Taiwan before embarking on a career in America.  She is the daughter of late Taiwanese performer Frankie Kao and was born in Chicago. Ko, on the other hand, was reared in Georgia by her uncle and aunt.

Ko flew to Taiwan at their urging to give the Taiwanese industry a chance.

she told NBC in an interview,

“It was challenging for me since I had to perform in Mandarin. Even though I spoke Mandarin at home, I had to learn the language from scratch.”

Ko returned to the United States and lived in Los Angeles in search of better opportunities.  However, she was typecast and required to put on an Asian accent during her auditions, which she found difficult due to her upbringing in the United States.

Ko rose to notoriety in 2016 after appearing on the CBS sitcom The Great Indoors and eventually becoming a regular.  She also appeared as a guest star in HBO’s Ballers and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building.
She also contributed to the upcoming Netflix feature Tigertail.   Ko appeared in the music video for Justin Bieber’s song Hold On in 2021.

All About Season 5 of The Handmaid’s Tale

Season 5 of the show will begin on Hulu on Wednesday, September 14, with the first two episodes, with the rest following weekly.  Serena Waterford plans her retribution for her husband’s death in the upcoming season, which will focus on the repercussions of Commander Waterford’s murder in June’s life. As Luke and Moira struggle to bring Gilead down, the program will concentrate on his growing power in Canada.
