Christine took up athletics in 2017. By May 2019, she had won the 800m and 1500m races at the Cossasa School Games in Manzini, Eswatini. Two months later, she won a bronze medal in the 800 m at the South African Championships in Moka, Mauritius.
Christine also won gold medals in the 800m and 1500m at the Namibian Championships in Windhoek in November 2020. She won the 400m at the Grand Prix Meet in Oshakati, Namibia on 27 March 2021.
Christine set a new personal best in the 200ms with a time of 22.67 seconds on June 7 at the Josef Odlozil Memorial in Prague, winning the gold medal. Likewise, on June 30, 2021, she set an African senior and a new world U20 record in the 400 m.
Christine won the Irene Szewinska Memorial in Bydgoszcz, Poland, becoming the seventh fastest woman in history. She won silver at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She became the first Namibian to win an Olympic medal and the country’s first medalist since 1996. On 3 September 2021, she won the 200 m race at her first Diamond League competition in Brussels. On September 9, she won the Diamond League Championship in Zurich, with a time of 21.78 seconds to win her first diamond trophy, capping off a very successful season.
