Christy Turlington's 2 Kids: All About Grace and Finn

Christy Turlington is a mother of two.

The supermodel met her husband, actor and director Ed Burns, in 2000 at a charity event. The couple married in June 2003 and have two children together: daughter Grace, 20, and son Finn, 18.

During the interview with S. in May 2014 Philadelphia InquirerTurlington spoke about the qualities she embraced during motherhood and hopes to pass on to her children.

“I believe that we learn the most from the examples around us. I hope that my actions and the way I have chosen to live will teach my children what I value,” she explained. “I think it is important that my children see as much of the world as possible, because that is how I learned almost everything that is important. I believe that a broad view of the world will help them better understand their place in our world.”

Turlington also mentioned her decades-long relationship with her husband, adding, “My children are lucky to have two healthy, passionate people as their parents who love and respect each other as equals.”

Grace McKenna Burns, 20

Turlington and her husband welcomed their first child, daughter Grace McKenna, on October 23, 2003.

Although Turlington had an otherwise healthy pregnancy with her daughter, she faced a complication with Grace’s birth. In her birth story on Every Mother Counts, Turlington explained that her placenta was retained and needed to be removed. She lost several liters of blood during the procedure and faced post-partum haemorrhage, and her survival was due to the medical care she received in the delivery room.

Her experience eventually inspired her to direct a 2010 documentary No wife, no crying and start a non-profit organization Every Mother Matters.

Grace graduated from the Little Red School House & Elisabeth Irwin High School in New York City, known as LREI, in June 2022 and has since gone on to college.

“I’m so proud of these fierce, smart, fun, curious and engaged women who are committed to doing everything they can to manifest the world they want to live in,” Turlington captioned a photo of Grace and her black cap-and-gown co-stars.

Grace is also following in her mother’s modeling footsteps, despite being told by Turlington to “stay as far away” from the industry as possible. She made her runway debut in June 2023 at British Vogue X LuisaViaRoma show in Florence, Italy. Two months before, the mother-daughter duo appeared in a campaign for Carolina Herrera.

Grace has documented several other moments in her career on social media, including numerous covers for Perfect Magazine, MUZA magazine and POP Magazine.

Turlington congratulated her daughter on her POP Magazine cover in 2022, writing that she could “take no credit or responsibility” for Grace’s character, though she added a caveat, “except that she gave birth to this wonder into the world and gave her the family name she bears with its full meaning and representation.”

In addition to the covers of the magazine, Grace also appeared in the eighth issue of the magazine HOMMEGIRLS and starred in a May 2023 campaign for Minty Mellon.

Over the years, Turlington has posted touching tributes to her daughter, whom she called her “muse,” on social media. To mark her daughter’s 19th birthday in October 2022, Turlington celebrated Grace’s “year of so many exciting beginnings,” including her first vote and running the New York City Marathon.

In May 2023, Turlington reunited with fellow ’90s runway icons Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen. Their children were also present at their meeting: Turlington’s daughter Grace, Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber and Christensen’s son Mingus Lucien Reedus.

Finn Burns, 18

Turlington’s second child, son Finn, was born on February 11, 2006. The 18-year-old lives a much more private life than his older sister and rarely appears on his mother’s Instagram account.

However, in August 2018, Turlington shared several snaps from a family vacation in Greece, including a photo of her and Finn on a boat. Along with the sweet photo, Turlington called her son her “little travel buddy.”

Years later, in August 2022, Finn made another rare public appearance with his family in Greece when the teenager was photographed on a night out in Athens alongside his parents and sister.

Turlington previously called Finn “pure sunshine” who brings her “so much joy” and “one of a kind.” To mark his 16th birthday, Turlington shared a photo of the mother-son duo taken when he was a baby. In the caption, she reflected on his birth and motherhood, writing in part, “When I look at you now, son, I still see this little face no matter how much taller you are than me.”

“Your open and trusting heart is revealed in your eyes and the way you look at me when I can see them,” she added. “I want to be the best for you and your big sister, every day. I love you more and more and more. Happy birthday, sweet Finny Boo.”
