Chynna Phillips Reveals She and Husband Billy Baldwin Live in Separate Homes, Have an 'Allergy to One Another'

Chynna Phillips Baldwin shares an update on her unconventional living arrangement with husband Billy Baldwin.

Singer Wilson Phillips, 56, detailed their current situation in a new video posted on her YouTube channel on Sunday, November 3. In the clip, Chynna talks about how she and her husband of nearly 30 years came to an agreement to live in different homes — and cities — in California.

“Billy and I are kind of in this new kind of arrangement that’s actually really working for me. I don’t know if it works for Billster, but I’m really happy with what we’re doing,” she begins, before adding, “Basically, it’s completely unstructured . . . let me explain.”

She continues, “I said to Billy, ‘Look, why don’t we just do a little test drive to see how it feels to have me in Santa Barbara, you in Beverly Hills, and then we’ll crash. Then in between we have outings together, therapy, dinner with the kids and we go to the beach or the museum.”

The couple, who married in 1995, have three grown children: daughters Jameson, 24, and Brooke, 19, and son Vance, 22.

The couple will be spending a few days together when she says we’re “sleeping and stuff,” but they’re not “making us be subject to each other’s energy 24/7.”

Although her actor husband is “a little more reserved about the whole thing,” Chynna notes that he was still willing to try out the new lineup.

He later goes into more detail about the deal during a FaceTime call with Billy, 61.

“I think we’re onto something,” she tells her husband. “I really am, because we enjoy each other’s company. It is so hard to articulate to people that we are madly in love, we really enjoy being with each other, we value our marriage, we never want to separate. We just need some time apart because we are kind of allergic to each other. And it’s okay. I’m sure a lot of different couples are allergic to each other.”

The actor interjects: “The reality is that you have an allergy, I have a certain energy that makes you—see, your back just went up.” He adds, “You do things that, you know, change my energy sometimes.”

Also in the video, Chynna explained that her faith played a role in the couple’s decision to live apart.

“Where in the Bible does it say I have to live under the same roof 24/7 with my husband? Can you please find me that verse?” she asks. “I mean, I have to take care of him, I have to be good to him, I have to be gentle with him. I must obey him or, as one would say, obey him.”

She adds, “I’ll submit when I’m there.”

The couple has previously been open about the evolution of their marriage, sharing that they had a “rough heart-to-heart together” in another YouTube video posted by Chynna in February.

In the video, the couple revealed that they had been separated for six months, but managed to resolve it through communication. Chynna added that it’s “absolutely untrue” that they’re in a “bad relationship,” and her husband agreed.

The singer also admitted that her faith has indeed caused a rift in their marriage in the past.

“The Christian aspect was a conspicuous problem for a while because [religion] it kind of overtook my life in so many ways. It might even make you wonder if you and I can really make it long-term,” she told her husband.

Billy replied, “But I still absolutely love you, I absolutely adore you, and I totally support you. That’s why I’m sitting here now. That’s why we go to church together. That’s why we pray together. That’s why we talk about faith together. That’s why I do these things for you… That’s because I’m a supportive, loving man who adores his wife and wants to spend the rest of his life with you, no doubt about it.”
