Ciara is related to Derek Jeter!
On Tuesday, the singer, 38, shared a clip of her appearance on an episode of the PBS series Searching for your roots where she shouted “What a world!” because she found out that she is related to the Yankees legend, 49.
“Yes, it’s your DNA cousin,” said Dr. Henry Louis Gates Jr. about the retired shortstop.
“You are kidding!” continued the “How We Roll” artist. “Derek Jeter!”
“Ladies and gentlemen, she’s watching former New York Yankees Derek Jeter,” Gates added to the audience.

“The moment I found out @DerekJeter was my cousin! Crazy!” Ciara captioned the post. “Thank you @drhenrylouisgates for such an amazing experience! It was a dream come true to learn about my family’s genealogy!”

Ciara also reposted a short clip of Gates introducing her by miming her 2004 song “1.2 Step”.
“The princess is here, Ciara,” Gates lip-synced as the camera panned to the singer, who gave birth to her third child with husband Russell Wilson on Dec. 11.
Daughter Amora Princess Wilson joined her older sister Sienna Princess, 6, and brother Win Harrison, 3, as well as Future’s brother Zahir, 9, whom Ciara shares with rapper ex Future.
On December 22, Ciara and Wilson, 35, filmed their first date after welcoming Amora. “Mom and Dad after our first date night baby,” Ciara captioned the Instagram, adding three heart-shaped emojis. “I love these nights.”
