Clare received an invitation last year to serve as Honorary President of the 2020 Bocuse d’Or European Selection in Tallinn, Estonia. Clare gained important insight into the competition as a result of her experience, and she was inspired to support Team UK’s aspirations to do well. Bocuse d’Or Team UK regrettably decided not to compete for the first time in more than 30 years because to the ongoing COVID crisis and its effects on the hospitality industry.
The Bocuse d’Or is the ideal international platform for showcasing our culinary expertise, according to Clare, who adds that the hospitality sector needs all the help it can get right now. Now that the UK is no longer a member of the EU, it’s time to honour both our outstanding chefs and suppliers. I’m excited to work with the committee to help Team UK have the same success as other nations, and I’m thrilled to accept the position of Global Chef Ambassador.
“Clare is a fantastic chef who is respected worldwide,” said Florent Suplisson, head of Gastronomic events at GL Events Exhibitions Operations, the contest’s organisers. It was an honour to have her participate in our European selection as Honorary President, and I’m confident that Clare will be instrumental in assisting Team UK on its road to victory in the future.
“We are absolutely delighted that Clare has won her third Michelin star and it asserts her position among the best chefs in the world,” continued Andreas Antona, chair of the Bocuse d’Or UK Academy. We are honoured to have Clare on board as we seek to find the sponsorship, raise the money, and acquire the culinary skills we need to compete at the top level.
The Bocuse d’Or World final is scheduled for June 1-2, 2021, at Sirha in Lyon. Along with the best-scoring nations from the 2018 Bocuse d’Or continental selections, the top ten teams from the European selection will compete. Wild card entries have not yet been made public.
