Clarence Thomas Age and Biography
Clarence Thomas was born on June 23, 1948 and is currently 74 years old in 2023. He was born and raised in Pin Point, Georgia in a devout Catholic middle class Christian household. He is of American origin and follows the Catholic faith. Clarence completed his primary and secondary education at St. Pius X, and then in the Minor Seminary of St. John Vianney on Hope Island.
Clarence claims he left the seminary after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He overheard another student say after the shooting, “Okay, I hope the son of a bitch dies,” and he didn’t think the church was doing enough to combat racism. After that, he studied at Conception Seminary College in Missouri. At the nun’s suggestion, he enrolled as a second-year transfer student at Worcester, Massachusetts’ College of the Holy Cross.
While a student there, he was instrumental in the formation of the Black Student Union. When several black students were punished for breaking school rules, he and other students walked out of class to protest inequality. A group of priests allowed black students to return to the institution. While in college, he participated in anti-war demonstrations and witnessed firsthand the 1970 Harvard Square riots. This is attributed to his disillusionment with the communist cause and his later conversion to conservatism.
