All about Cláudia Celeste
Claudia was born in Brazil in 1952, and joined the army as a teenager. However, she received a beauty certificate at the age of 20. She started her career as a hairdresser in Rio de Janeiro. This was the moment in her life when she decided to make a change.
Claudia’s name was Carlos Imperial, but she was given the stage name Cláudia Celeste when she entered the theater. Later she worked as a dancer in many nightclubs. After obtaining government permission for the exhibition O Mundo é das Bonecas, the theater noticed Claudia’s work and asked her to act, along with other transgender actresses. After the success of her theater performances, Celeste’s abilities began to be recognized.
She was crowned Miss Brazilian Pop in 1976. A year later, she made her soap opera debut with a production called Magic Mirror. At the time, few people knew that Claudia was transgender, but the news spread quickly. Although the program was cancelled, she continued to work in her profession.
Her big success came from the soap opera Ohlo Por Ohlo. Claudia managed to be true to herself and appear in the film as a trans woman. While she faced discrimination from management after they discovered she was transgender, the opportunity offered her new opportunities. She died on May 13, 2018 in Brazil of pneumonia, after a prolific career.
Klaudija will be remembered on August 22.
The Google Doodle served as a reminder that Claudia was chosen over 200 other candidates for her role in Ohlo Por Ohlo. Her commitment to the role and the program was second to none. She was quite open about her beliefs.
She overcame prejudices on the creative front. Claudia is currently known for her work in television opera. Furthermore, it is considered to pave the way for future generations of LGBTQ+ talent who want to work in this sector. Claudia’s great career and the way she embraced her LGBTQ+ identity was honored with a Google Doodle logo on August 22, 2022. Without a doubt, she has a great influence on future generations.
