Cleo Rose Elliott is a talented singer, songwriter and model. She became famous at the age of 24 when her debut solo single, ‘No More Lies’, became an instant hit. Since then, she has released many songs and gained a reputation in the music business. However, the singer is known not only for her songs. Cleo has been in the spotlight since the day she was born. She is the daughter of Oscar-nominated actor Sam Elliott and his wife, actress Katharine Ross. Cleo’s relationship with her mother is strained despite being the only daughter of the famous couple. Katharine was also granted a restraining order against her daughter Cleo.
Cleo is accused of stabbing her mother at least six times.
Katharine said in a restraining order filed in March 2011 that her daughter Cleo was aggressive as a child and became violent when she was 12 or 13. “[Cleo] he verbally and emotionally abused me as a child, but he became progressively aggressive when I was 12 or 13 years old,” the Graduate actress revealed.
Their feud became public when Cleo allegedly cut Katharine with scissors and Katharine filed for a restraining order against her daughter. According to the 81-year-old actress, her daughter suddenly lost her temper and started muttering, “I want to kill you.” Cleo then kicked the closet door shut, and when Katharine tried to call the police, Cleo cut the phone cord with scissors. Cleo threatened her with scissors, but stabbed her six times in the right hand.
“[Cleo stabbed] with enough force to penetrate my body through my clothing, leaving me with wounds that are still visible today,” Katharine said in her statement.
Following the incident, Katharine requested a protective order and the court scheduled a hearing for March 30, 2011. Cleo was ordered to stay at least 100 meters away from her mother’s home, office and car until the hearing. Despite this, it is still unknown what motivated Cleo to stab her mother.
Clea’s mother-daughter relationship seems to be on the mend
Cleo (36) and her mother had an unforgettable experience, but now it seems that they have combined all the bad blood between them. The mother-daughter duo has been seen together at several events and award shows, indicating that their relationship is on the mend. They were photographed together on the red carpet for the film Hero, in which Clea’s parents starred, during the Sundance Film Festival in 2017. On that occasion, an interviewer asked her about her parents.
Cleo said that her parents were very successful performers, which made her very proud. Cleo and her mother Katharine were seen together again on September 24, 2018 at the premiere of A Star Is Born. They were also seen together at the 91st Academy Awards when they were both smiling and very happy.
