Coco Gauff Takes the Plunge Off New Zealand’s Tallest Building: ‘Jumping into the New Year’

Coco Gauff clearly has no fear while Down Under!

On Sunday, the US Open champion shared a gallery of impressive pictures and videos from her recent trip to SkyJump in Auckland, New Zealand, where she and her family jumped from the country’s tallest building and bungee-jumped 53 stories down at nearly 53 miles per hour.

“Let’s jump into the new year 🎊 #2024,” the 19-year-old tennis phenom wrote alongside her Instagram post, which included a video of her jump.

With his hair flying, Gauff can be heard screaming as he descends before safely finding a landing spot.

In another photo, Gauff poses with her mom Candi and brothers Cameron, 10, and Codey, 16, while other images show the family members seemingly separately enjoying their in-flight experiences. The athlete pointed out on her Instagram Story that her father Corey Gauff was too afraid of heights to jump.

Gauff is currently going through the ASB Classic where she is the top seed and has reached the round of 16 of the tournament. On Wednesday, the Florida native will take on Czech tennis player Brenda Fruhvirtova.

All about Coco Gauff’s parents, Candi and Corey Gauff

In September, she became the youngest American to win the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999 — and that was the result of a tough match against Belarus’s Arya Sabalenka. After losing the first set 2-6, Gauff came back to take the second set 6-3, and finished the match with a dominant 6-2 in the final set.

After her win, Gauff made sure to thank her supportive parents, including her father who was emotional after her dramatic win.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen my dad cry — he doesn’t want me to tell you,” she told the crowd.
