Coffee Mate and Dr Pepper Team Up for a ‘Dirty Soda’ Creamer — Yes, Really!

Drinking dirty sodas at home just got even easier.

Coffee Mate is teaming up with Dr Pepper to create a coconut lime creme made specifically for making dirty soda. Although the creamer company usually deals with coffee, as the name suggests, this limited-time creamer is meant to be added to sodas (ideally Dr Pepper).

Starting in March, the fruit cream will be available in stores nationwide while supplies last for a suggested retail price of $3.29.

Dirty soda has been all over social media since 2022, but has been popular in Utah since the 2010s. The drink usually consists of soda mixed with cream or half-and-half, flavored syrups, and lime juice.

Dirty soda has become a mainstay in the state like the mocktail, probably because Utah has a large Mormon population that doesn’t usually drink alcohol because of their faith.

And celebrities helped popularize the dirty soda trend. In December 2021, pop star Olivia Rodrigo posted an Instagram photo on her feed holding a mug from Swig, a soda shop that specializes in making dirty juices. Lindsay Lohan also starred in a Pepsi commercial that focused on the dirty soda.

Coca-Cola recently announced a competitor to Dr Pepper: Coca-Cola Spiced. The new, carbonated drink is the first permanent flavor that the brand has introduced in the last three years. It will hit national retail shelves from February 19. Coca-Cola Spiced Zero Sugar is also available.

The soda combines the classic taste of Coca-Cola with a “burst of refreshing raspberry flavors and spicy notes,” according to the release.
