The Voice’s Madison Curbelo Gets a 4-Chair Turn in Second-Ever Blind Audition — See Who She Picked as Her Coach

Madison Curbelo made one hell of a comeback.

On Monday night’s episode VoteCurbelo impressed the coaches with her cover of Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” which she performed in English and Spanish.

Curbelo, who auditioned for the series in its 20th season, made all the coaches turn their chairs.

“I was 18 and I was really scared. Even though I didn’t turn the chair, they had nice things to say and they’re wonderful people,” Curbelo, now 21, said in an interview before the audition. “Blake [Shelton] he said to just go around and play at a bunch of places and then come back. I really took Blake’s advice to heart.”

“This time it feels different – it feels like it was meant to be,” she added.

After the performance, Reba McEntire asked Curbelo what had changed since her first audition.

“Trust is the biggest thing that’s changed,” Curbelo said. “I’ve been writing so much music, so I kind of discovered a sound that I like. Finding Madison was a big deal.”

The coaches then offered their games to get Curbel to join their teams.

“I feel like you’re just now ready,” John Legend said. “When I turned around, I saw a smile on your face… but I heard your smile before I turned around.”

“You radiate light and joy,” explained Shay Mooney. “Your voice was just flawless, you could hear the smile in your voice… We are lucky to have you here.”

“It was the greatest achievement ever,” added Smyers, 36. “She really was just a ray of sunshine — real and authentic. She was exactly what we were waiting for and I thought she would choose John [Legend].”
