Cole Hauser looks back on his Yellowstone to experience with love — while looking ahead to what might come next in the Dutton universe.

Hauser, 49, who plays Rip Wheeler on the hit Paramount series, tells PEOPLE while he’s catching up on his new collection with Lucky Brand, that he’ll “miss” the show’s “amazing cast” now that it’s in its fifth season. end.

“It’s been an amazing experience the last few weeks just to see people out and about and their recognition of the show and the character and what it means to them,” he says of the fan reception at the highly anticipated Yellowstone return, which took place on November 10, almost two years after its last episode aired.

“It’s always a dream for me to be able to do that, to educate people, enlighten them and entertain them,” he adds of his work on the show.

with Yellowstone season finale airing Dec. 15, Hauser wonders what’s next for the Duttons and where his character might fit into it all.

“I think America has spoken. They still love the show. Obviously there’s a bunch of people who get together with their families every Sunday, and we’re giving them an experience to take them out of their living rooms and into Montana and entertain them,” he shares. “And I think ultimately it’s as simple as that.”
