Colton Underwood Explains Why He Feels ‘75% Gay’ to His ‘Bachelor’ Ex Hannah Brown

Colton Underwood opens up about his sexuality and past relationships on reality television.

The Bachelor alum — who came out as gay in 2021 — explained why he labels himself “75% gay” in a recent conversation with ex Hannah Brown, as they discussed when she began questioning Underwood’s sexuality and how his husband Jordan C. Brown could I don’t believe the viewers didn’t get it.

“I still identify as gay, but on the spectrum, I’d say I’m 75% gay,” Underwood, 31, shared with Brown, 28, on Wednesday’s episode of her Better tomorrow podcast.

He explained that “there’s still an attraction, an appreciation and an emotional connection that I can still have with women, but I don’t want to pursue that.”

“It’s not my life partner,” Underwood continued. “My partner in life is Jordan, a man, and that’s what I’ve always wanted, but I’ve never felt comfortable saying it and I honestly didn’t even know it was like that until I realized it and really understood it.”

“But if I had to break it down into percentages, more or less, that’s about where it is,” he noted of his sexual identity. “It might be confusing for some people, but I think that’s where the male and female energies change, the sliding scale and it changes — I think that’s the easiest way to explain my sexuality,”

Brown — who dated Underwood as a contestant on his season Bachelor in 2019 — then questioned whether he’s “ever truly been in love with a woman” now that he’s married and can look back on his journey toward understanding and coming to terms with his sexuality.

Underwood married husband Brown, 38, in May after they first met at a party in Los Angeles in April 2021. The couple got engaged in February 2022 in Big Sur, California.

“I’ve never been more confident about anything,” Underwood told PEOPLE at the time. “He has the biggest heart and is such a good friend to all the people in his life. He goes out of his way to take care of his friends and family. That speaks volumes. That was one of the first things I noticed about him.”
