Conan O'Brien Returning to Host 2026 Oscars, Jokes 'Only Reason' Is to Hear Adrien Brody Finish His Speech

Conan O’Brien hosted the 97th annual Oscars so well that he would come back to do so in 2026!

On Monday, March 17th, it was announced that the 61-year-old comedian would return to the host of the 98th Annual Academy Award at the ABC next year. The ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.

“The only reason why I host Oscare next year is that I want to hear Adrien Brody finish his speech,” O’Brien joked in a press release, referring to Brody’s record speech about the acceptance he held after winning the best actor this year.

The ceremony also returns Rhigu Kapoor and Katy Mullan as executive producers, and Jeff Ross and Mike Sweeney as producers. Sweeney will serve a double duty because they will also work on a writing team.

“We are delighted to have returned Conan, Paradise, Katy, Jeff and Mike for the 98th Oscar!” Academy Executive Director Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a statement. “This year, they produced an extremely entertaining and visually stunning show, which celebrated our nominee and global film community in the most beautiful and beautiful way. The 2025 ceremony brought more than 19 million spectators, reaching a five -year maximum. This also marked the first year that O’Brien served as the host.

During his duties of the host, O’Brien suffered a playful joke, including a reference to Drake and Kendrick Lamara’s lasting feud.

“It’s a celebration of the whole industry and people from every life that give their blood, sweat and tears for the show business,” said O’Brien People Creeching Creemony Iconic Awards earlier this month.

Although he noted that Emceeing event “can be ticklish,” O’Brien was ready to go. “I like to meet the challenge,” he said.

Previous hosts of the awards ceremonies include Jimmy Kimmel, Whopy Goldberg and Steve Martin. Kimmel refused the offer to return to the 2025 show.

The late Bob Hope holds a record most of the times in Hollywood’s biggest night after he entered the stage 19 times. Nine -time host Billy Crystal comes second in the list.
