Officers looking for a missing man found a body in Rijeka near a football stadium in a heart discovery.
A body for Darren Orma was found in the Douglas River near the Wigan stadium, near the Wigan Football Club.
Darren, who was a big fan of Wigan FC, disappeared on March 5 just before 9pm near Standisha.
The formal identification has not yet happened, but police said the family family was informed and supported by specialist officers.
Death is not treated as suspicious.
The disappearance of the Wigan FC fans encouraged a wide search for his stay, while police launched a major investigation throughout the area.
Police dogs and underwater search teams are deployed to search the Leeds and Liverpool and River Douglas channels.
Athletic manager Wigan, Ryan Lowe, even took time from a press conference to help in search, reports Manchester Evening News.
He said, “We mean Darren’s family and we are really behind the campaign to bring him home and sound. We hope he will go back to the brick very quickly and watch his beloved Wigan.”
In the post on X today, Wigan and Leigh police said: “The police who asked the disappeared Darren Orma unfortunately placed the body in the area of the Wigan stadium.
“Although the formal identification has not yet happened, Darrena’s family is informed and are supported by specialist officers at this point.”
