Violet was last in Weatherfield in 2008 after giving birth to son Dylan Wilson with father Sean Tully.
Waitress then moved to London, and Dylan and partner Jamie Baldwin left the show.
She made a one-off appearance in an episode filmed on location in London in 2011, which was the last time viewers saw her.
But now The Sun can reveal actress Jenny will return to Weatherfield as part of son Dylan’s heartbreaking story.

Violet will return to show her support for her son who was recently exposed for his involvement in the bullying of Liam Connor, along with ringleader Mason Radcliffe.
In the coming months, Dylan will face serious consequences for his actions and will need the support of both parents.
Her comeback will air on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Corrie star Antony Cotton, who plays Dylan’s father Sean, teased Jenny’s return.
He said: “Tomorrow, after 16 years, Jenny Platt, who plays Violet Wilson, is coming back – she starts tomorrow.
“So I have three scenes with her tomorrow and we’ll be shooting next month. It doesn’t come back permanently, but it does come back.”
Coronation Street’s Peter Barlow takes desperate measures against a teenage bully – but quickly backfires
And he found that after several attempts the soap had finally managed to get her to come back.
“We tried to get her back in different ways,” he said.
“At the end of the day, she’s Dylan’s mom. We talk about Violet a lot, and off-screen Sean drops in and stays with them.
“But 16 years ago she left with Dylan and she’s never been seen on screen since. But I’ve always kept in touch with Jenny and Rupert, so it’s really weird because I haven’t gone anywhere, I’m here.
“She wasn’t even in the new building, let alone playing Violet. So I’m really excited to see my mate Jenny and also to see Violet.
“I’ve been in contact with her the whole time and I just hope she’s not nervous because she shouldn’t be, but I imagine she will because it’s a completely different situation.
