Carter-J Murphy has been cast as Harry Platt, the son of Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien).

Speaking to reporters about the change, actor Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, said: “They’ve just changed the role of the guy who plays Harry.

“Carter is very, very confident.”

The new star will make his screen debut this week.

Young actor Carter succeeds twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes in the role of Harry.

The couple played the character from 2017 onwards.

Harry was born in 2016 after Sara’s relationship with villain Callum Logan (Sean Ward).

Callum was killed by Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) before Harry was born.

The villain’s body was then hidden under annex no. 8.

Meanwhile, Carter recently appeared in Better Man, playing a young Robbie Williams.

The makeover comes amid big changes for the Platts – with matriarch Gail set to leave the cobbles soon.

Actress Helen Worth left the soap earlier this year, after 50 years playing her iconic character.

Corrie quietly changes character as they suddenly return to the cobblestones after a year long absence

She said in a statement at the time: “This year seemed like the perfect time to leave the show after celebrating 50 years in the most wonderful job on the most wonderful street in the world.

“I made the decision at the beginning of the year and talked to the producers who were very kind and understanding.

“I have been truly blessed to receive the most amazing scripts week after week and to work with fantastic actors, directors and a brilliant crew.

“The past 50 years have flown by and I don’t think the fact that I’m leaving has been fully understood yet.”

Soap bosses have brought back John Thomson as Jesse Chadwick for Gail’s exit storyline.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.

Shock exits from Coronation Street 2024

Corrie said goodbye to several actors this year. Let’s clarify who left the famous soap opera:

Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) said goodbye to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.

The girl moved in with her father Dom Everett, who returned on a £10,000 bribe offered by Eliza’s grandfather Stu to keep him out of her life.

Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will quit the soap this summer when he loses his battle with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.

After being diagnosed last year, the fan favorite was devastated to learn he only had a few months left to live.

Viewers know that he plans to take his own life to end his suffering.

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) left the cobbles after being offered the chance of a lifetime to study in America.

Although she struggled to make up her mind given the imminent death of her stepfather Paul from MND, she was convinced that she had to live her life to the fullest.

Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.

The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.

Simon has been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.

Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.

She looks set to head to Dublin after landing a lucrative new job, ditching a colleague and ditching Adam Barlow.

Show host Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the UK tour of Sister Act The Musical. She will return to recording in May after her tour dates are over.

Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia.
