Alan, 41, managed to smile through the pain as he told fans he had undergone ACL reconstruction surgery, where a torn ligament is replaced with a tissue graft.

The star said she is recovering at home after surgery last Friday.

Posing with a thumbs up, Alan shared: “ACL reconstruction surgery ✔️. Well, I had ACL reconstruction surgery on Friday. I was told the surgery went really well.”

The soap opera star said she is going in the right direction, but the road to recovery will be long.

“I know I have a long 9-12 months of rehabilitation ahead of me, but I’m sure that with the support of my family and friends, I’ll make it,” he continued.

He then praised the NHS for their support during this time and added: “Thank you amazing! The staff at Oaklands and also thanks to my personal nurse.”

Alan’s friends from the soap were quick to share their messages of support.

Clare Sweeney and his on-screen mother announced: “This is great news, I’m glad it was successful.”

Former Corrie star Ryan Thomas shared a love heart emoji.

While actress Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby, wrote: “Get well dear.”

Alan is perhaps best known for his role as the lovable Tyrone on the cobblestones.

But apart from the soap opera, he has a very different job after starting his own real estate company.

The actor is investing his money wisely after launching his secret second career away from the cobblestones.

He bought a modest three-bed redbrick terrace for £100,000, and the place at 9 Coronation Street where his character Tyrone Dobbs lives is nothing.

Alan bought the flat with a mortgage against his company Rae Property Ltd – named after his daughter Sienna-Rae.

An ITV source said: “Alan is planning more homes and if he snaps up a few more on the road as they become available, he could have his very own Coronation Street.”

The tiny home might double as his on-set gaffe, but it’s a world away from the stunning home he shares with his daughter and ex-lover Tisha Merry in an upscale part of town.

The actor built his dream home, which is now worth a staggering £750k, with ex-wife Lucy-Jo Hudson – who also starred in the soap.

The apartment boasts a luxurious living room, a large hallway and a lavish bathroom that has a freestanding bath, plus a monster kitchen and a huge garden.
