Couple’s Wedding Is Canceled After Bride Is Caught Having an Affair with Groom’s Uncle

A bridesmaid shares the chaos that caused her friend’s entire wedding to be canceled for the day.

On Reddit’s Wedding Shaming Subreddit, a woman explains how in the run-up to her friend Dana’s wedding on January 14, her friend, 29, had crazy requests for members of her bridal party. For example, she asked all her bridesmaids to spend $2,000 on their dresses and also cancel their family vacations to go on her bachelorette trip.

In addition, she told her fiancé Josh that he was not allowed to invite any of his single friends.

“Now the center of the story comes on the wedding day,” writes the bridesmaid.

“She had constant outbursts all day long. She made people cry,” adds the friend, talking about the bride. “Like, wedding staff and bridesmaids. The Department of Health deserves a medal for the amount of diplomacy and bull— control they had to do. I mostly took the easy way out and decided to work outside of the bridal suite, like checking flowers, making sure the food was okay . Basically any excuse NOT to be around the bride.”

In the post, the woman goes on to explain how five minutes before the wedding started, the girl, who was Josh’s sister, came and told her the wedding was cancelled. “I asked her what happened,” she said, to which the godmother told her, “Dana was on ‘speed’ with Josh’s uncle in the room. Josh caught them.”

When the maid told her this, she wrote that she just stared at her with her mouth about to hit the floor.

“She told me to run and that she was trying to get as many people out as possible before things blew up,” he continues. “So I quickly grabbed my purse, gathered the two bridesmaids who were traveling together with me and we left like the devil was chasing us. I checked on the other bridesmaid and they all ran away.”

After the wedding disaster, she explained how Dana called her asking for $5,000 to cover cancellation costs. According to Dana, it was her duty as a member of the bridal party to sort out those fees. “Obviously I told her no and that she might lose my number,” the woman writes. “I will never speak to this woman again.”

Reddit users responded to the post and shared their reactions to the situation, explaining why, in the grand scheme of things, things turned out for the best.

“It’s good that he walked out of the wedding, but how he didn’t realize before then that he was making a huge mistake; not being able to invite women who aren’t family is a huge flag,” one person wrote. “Plus all the other toxic behaviors described before the wedding should have been a sign that the bride was a bad person and that the marriage would not last.”

Another person chimed in and added: “You should check with the Ministry of Health and find out how long the thing with her uncle has been going on and what the consequences are.”

“Cancellation fees?!? Even 30 minutes to the ceremony, all the vendors, supplies and equipment are there and ready to go. They better have billed her in full,” said someone else.
