“The world is a little darker without you today, but I’ll always smile when I think of you. My partner in crime, my OG co-host – Jonnie, I’ll miss you.”

Last week, the star of the series Escape to the Village shared a picture on Instagram of herself in a hospital scrub before an MRI scan.

He explained: “This is the look of a man who hasn’t slept for 6 nights and is waiting for a full body MRI scan of at least an hour. If you haven’t had one, they are claustrophobic and claustrophobic and make loud random noises. Joy.

In his latest interview, Jonnie admitted he embraced alternative options to allow himself to feel “empowered” during his battle with lung cancer.

Jane McLelland, author of How to Cure Cancer, gave Jonnie personal nutritional advice in an attempt to help him.

Speaking about how useful Jane’s advice was, Jonnie said: “I just think the work you do is so important because if I just listened to the prognosis they keep giving me, I’d curl up in a ball and cry myself to death.

“But I feel a lot more empowered and educated. There is a sphere of help, and NHS help is a huge part of that sphere, but there are also little things that I can do.

“Look at this – I’m in there for at least an hour a day and I have to come in later [a hyperbaric oxygen chamber].”

As part of his treatment regimen, Jonnie said he was “taking oxygen, vitamin C” to get better results.

Podcast host Jane then chimed in on the physical benefits of the practice: “Intravenous vitamin C, so it bypasses the gut and doesn’t cause diarrhea.”

The Channel 4 star said: β€œI feel great after it. I feel great after hyperbaric – I feel great after vitamin C.

“These things, if I was fit and well, I would try to use them anyway because I’m a lot more open-minded, probably because I have a gun to my head. And that’s a rich kaleidoscope of help that I’m following and will continue to do.”

Jane then revealed why she thought it was important to introduce alternative methods and medicines and how they could work alongside traditional NHS prescribed therapies.

She said: “You have to look for alternatives and you have to do your own research.

“There is always a misconception that anyone who provides information for a different form of treatment is encouraging people to abandon conventional treatment.

“I’m very ‘let’s put everything together – cocktails, combinations like you already mentioned.

“We have to find the right cocktails and combinations, and that’s really lacking in our current approach.”

Jonnie defied the odds after being given just six months to live in August 2020.

After the diagnosis, the host talked about his desire to spend as much time as possible with his family. He shares three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with his wife Jess, as well as their five-year-old son Rex.

Jonnie underwent life-prolonging treatment and recently shared several photos of him living life to the fullest.

This included enjoying a drink in his local pub and taking Rex to their local panto, which was Pinocchio. “Rex was in stitches,” he commented afterwards on social media.
