Craig Conover Reveals He Filmed Southern Charm Scenes with Kathryn Dennis for Season 9: ‘We Love Her’

The Southern charm honor hopes to see Kathryn Dennis back on the show after she reportedly ran away.

“We actually love Kathryn,” Craig Conover said Sunday Southern charm panel at BravoCon in Las Vegas. “Shep and I actually filmed with her this year. I don’t think it should have happened, but we did and I think they did it as a favor to us because we love her so much.”

Conover, 34, said he wants to see that tape, but “we probably won’t.”

“The point of me telling you that is we’d love to see it come back,” the Sewing Down South founder continued. “I think the door is always open. I think she’s working on herself and has a lot of work to do before she comes back. But I hope she’s doing well and I know a lot of people have been here recently, we’ve been in touch with her.” ”

Conover said his friend Austen Kroll “talks to her as much as he can,” as do the rest of the cast.

“We love Kathryn,” Conover repeated. “But we just hope she gets the hang of it.”

And Shep Rose defended Dennis.

“We’ve all come a long way and we’ve seen bumps and bruises and all that stuff,” said Rose, 43. “And unfortunately, you know, Kathryn stumbles sometimes. We love her because there’s a person in her that we know is a good person.”

Conover said he would like Dennis to come back Southern charm next season.

“She is doing so well and wanted to be here with all of you more than anything,” he told the crowd. “And our goal for next year is for her to, you know, come back and see you.”

A 2022 Ford SUV registered to Dennis, 32, struck a school resource officer directing traffic outside Whitesville Elementary School on Gaillard Road, near Chavis Lane, at about 7:18 a.m. Oct. 20, Corporal Nick Pye said. from the South Carolina Highway Patrol told PEOPLE. The injured police officer received medical attention on the spot.

The Ford SUV “did not stop at the scene of the crash,” Pye said, confirming the vehicle was later located at Dennis’ address.

PEOPLE previously made multiple attempts to reach Dennis regarding the incident, but was unsuccessful. However, this was confirmed to PEOPLE by an informed source Southern charm star was involved in the alleged incident.

Bravo fans first met Dennis when the reality series debuted in Charleston in 2014. She met Thomas Ravenel during season 1, and by the end of filming that year they were expecting a daughter, Kensington Calhoun, who is now 9 years old. The following year, they welcomed their son Saint Julien in November 2015.

Dennis’ time on the show was dominated by her combustible relationship with Ravenel, now 61, which led to many accusations from him about her sobriety and ability as a mother. They fought for years to resolve their long-running custody battle, which they finally did in 2019, and continued to work on their co-parenting dynamic after the breakup of their romantic relationship.

‘Southern Charm’: Kathryn Dennis admits ‘something’s not right’ after rekindling with ex Chleb Ravenella

PEOPLE confirmed in January that Dennis was leaving Southern charm after eight seasons.

Dennis started the year off on a hopeful note, posting on Instagram: “I don’t know about you, but I feel like 2023 ~ my New Year’s resolution is to have more hope and channel my grace 🙏💞”

In September, she dedicated another post on Instagram to her children, writing: “When I’m with you I feel so alive again even when you can’t see or hear me, I always think of you.. know that our love connects us with an invisible string, always . I know we will get through these tough times and they won’t last forever. 🙏♥️ sending strength to all parents out there.”

She continued: “Regardless of the situation, being without your children is the hardest pain you have to bear every day you’re without them. It’s so unnatural and such a drawn out desolation. We need each other’s love and support – here’s to hope for the future ♥️”
