Creator Ate Nothing but the $1.50 Costco Hot Dog Meal for a Week — Here’s What Happened

The hot dog diet could be the next new trend, according to content creator Sir Yacht.

The Cleveland creator (whose real name is Joey Kinsley) recently decided to eat “nothing but Costco hot dog meals for a week.” In a viral video he posted Wednesday, Kinsley, 30, showed how he ate 29 $1.50 hot dogs over a seven-day period.

Kinsley said he ate the Costco-exclusive diet “to see if it was worth paying $1.50 for frosting and a drink.” Spoiler: It was “apsof–kinglutely”.

During the video, the creator compared the $43.50 he spent on a week’s worth of food to the $164.82 the average millennial spends, saying he was “on a budget.”

“What I’m really going to miss the most is not just consuming glizzies, but spending only $1.50 on a meal,” he tells PEOPLE. “That’s something that’s completely unheard of in 2024.”

In addition, the venture was social. Friends joined the star of social networks for some meals, judging by the video, and “cheers” for hot dogs. Except for your loved ones, Kinsley thanked Tums and Pepto for “saving” him..

Kinsley “couldn’t say enough good things about the staff” at the Costco stores he frequented in Ohio. “And whoever prepared the glizzies, I can’t thank you enough for making me a happy camper,” he adds.

In addition to the monetary and social benefits of the seven-day challenge, Kinsley reported losing 4.2 lbs. while eating hot dogs. “I may have also started a new diet trend. Or I have a giant tapeworm,” he joked in the video.

But he emphasized to PEOPLE that he “is not a nutritionist and does not recommend anyone to do this. I also walked 10-25 miles a day, drank a gallon of water a day, and took daily vitamins that may or may not have been those of the Flintstone dinosaurs.”

Costco Combo Meal — 1/4 lb. 20 oz. Beef Hot Dog. soda (with refills) — has been a popular item for many members over the years. Despite inflation, in 2022 the company has pledged to keep snacks under two dollars.

CFO Richard Galanti said during the presentation that they are not trying to fill the gaps that the cheap meal potentially leaves.

“We really don’t look at it that way,” he explained during the call, MarketWatch reported. Galanti said other areas like the gas and road side of the business are doing well enough to help them “be more aggressive” in other parts of the business.

“Or … keep the price of a hot dog and juice down a little longer — forever,” he said.
