Seven of the eight American bulldog puppies that were in their owner’s car when it was stolen were reunited with their pet parents on Sunday.
In a press release, the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington DC explained that the dog’s pet parent had left her vehicle running and unlocked on Saturday when it was stolen with the newborn dogs inside.
“Seven of the eight puppies were handed over to the district station by a member of the community,” the statement said, adding that the stolen car was also recovered. “The puppies have been safely returned to their owner. We are still asking for the public’s help in locating the last puppy.”
Police described the extraordinary furry friend as “a 5-week-old American Bulldog that is dark in color with white markings.”

According to local ABC7 News, the owner went into her house around 1 p.m. Saturday, thinking she had locked her car, only to return moments later to find it gone.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is offering a $1,000 reward “to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest and conviction of a person or persons responsible for a crime committed in the District of Columbia,” the agency said in a statement, adding that tips can be called at ( 202) 727-9099.
“MPD would like to thank the community for their assistance in locating these puppies,” the police department added.
