DH Peligro, the drummer for the band Dead Kennedys, has died aged 63 after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a fall. The band took to Instagram on October 29 to reveal the devastating news, urging fans to respect his family’s privacy.
“DH Peligro (Darren Henley) of the deceased Kennedy Family passed away at his home in Los Angeles yesterday, October 28. According to police at the scene, he died of head trauma from a sudden fall. . The plans are being finalized and will be announced in the coming days.”
Peligro joined the Dead Kennedys in February 1981 and appeared on several of the band’s albums. He was also briefly in the Red Hot Chili Peppers before returning to his former band.
Twitter mourns the sudden death of DH Peligro
After his band confirmed the death of DH Peligro, many fans and contemporaries of the drummer expressed their condolences online. Users uploaded photos of the late drummer and reflected on his contribution to punk music. In a lengthy Instagram message, Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea also mourned the death of DH Peligro. Flea commented on the monochrome photo of the dead drummer from earlier days:
“My dear brother, my dear friend, I miss you so much. I’m sad now, tears welling up, but I will cherish every moment of my life. When I first saw you perform with the DKs in 1981, you blew me away. Strength, spirit, courage. You have been my best friend so many times in all sorts of ways. We had a lot of fun and happiness looking at each other’s backs. I admire you with all my heart. You are a true rocker and an important part of rhcp history. DHP, crazy guy, guy who brings joy, guy with big heart, you will live forever in our hearts. I will always respect you. Rest in peace and let go of everything that binds you.”

DH Peligro rejoined the Dead Kennedys in 2001.
DH Peligro was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on July 9, 1959. In 2018, he told Los Angeles Weekly that he moved to San Francisco as a teenager and played drums for local punk bands, one of which was a member Regular member of a local punk band. Kennedy is dead. The singer said he was working at a motel when he learned about the work of the Dead Kennedys.
“Since the drummer had left and I was free, I went to the audition.” Everything else is history.”
Peligro joined the band in 1981 and appeared on the band’s EP In God We Trust later that year. He has appeared on several studio albums, including Plastic Surgery Disaster (1982), Frankenchrist (1985), Bedtime for Democracy (1986) and Give Me Convenience or Give Me Death (1988). (1987). After the Dead Kennedys disbanded in 1986, he temporarily joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers and helped write the songs for their fourth album, Mother’s Milk. DH Peligro rejoined the Dead Kennedys in 2001 and remained with them until his death. He went on a one-year hiatus in 2008 before rejoining the band in 2009.
