Dave Parker considers his wife, Kellye Parker, his biggest support system and pillar of strength. The couple has been married for over four decades and is still going strong. Dave Parker is a retired professional baseball player who had a good career in Major League Baseball. From 1973 to 1991, the right fielder played for several MLB clubs, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, California Angels and Toronto Blue Jays. He won two World Series titles, with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979 and the Oakland Athletics in 1989. The Mississippi native was a seven-time All-Star, three-time Gold Glove winner and three-time Silver Slugger. He was also inducted into the Pirates and Cincinnati Reds Halls of Fame.

Dave Parker, the 1985 NL RBI leader, was happily married to Kellye Crockett for over 39 years. Parker and Crockett exchanged wedding vows on February 14, 1984. He affectionately calls Kelly “my rock” and she helped him overcome his cocaine addiction. They are the happy parents of three children. Kellye Parker attended the University of Cincinnati. She also gave her time to help out at Christ Emmanuel Christian Community. Kellye and Dave also bought a Popeye’s fried chicken restaurant in Cincinnati. Before Kelly, Dave Parker was married to Stella Miller Parker.
The street was renamed in his honor
The former baseball star, nicknamed “The Cobra”, gained great recognition in the area where he grew up. His desire to play the field began as a boy in the South Cumminsville community, near Borden and Elmore streets. Today, the boulevard named after him pays tribute to his efforts.
“It’s full circle. He was overjoyed ever since he heard about it. Dave’s wife, Kellye Parker, said, “He’s always worked hard and it’s great to be recognized in his hometown and neighborhood.”
Furthermore, Dave has been open about his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease. The diagnosis he made in 2013 affected his speech and motor skills, but it did not diminish his love for the people and the place he still calls home. Dave and Kellye founded the Dave Parker39 Foundation, whose goal is to educate the public about Parkinson’s disease. In addition, they have successfully raised significant amounts to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson’s disease.
