Daddy Yankee and Don Omar Announce End to Longtime Feud: ‘I Wish You the Best’

Daddy Yankee and Don Omar release the past after the past.

In separate posts on social media, the reggaeton stars shared how much they appreciate each other and announced that their years-long feud is over.

“Today we close the book that preserves the best chapters of our controversial rivalry,” the “Danza Kuduro” singer (45) wrote on Instagram, alongside a photo of Yankee (46) smiling. “Thank you for your words and for listening to mine, which came from the heart. I wish you and your family all the best. Thank you for your competitiveness and admirable discipline, but even more thank you for what you have done for our music.”

“Thank you for your cooperation and competition because I did it with titanium. I keep good memories, laughter, shared dreams and the desire for the last round with such a great opponent,” he continued. “We will meet again soon because I owe you a hug and thank you personally. In the meantime, long live King Daddy.”

Shortly after Don Omar shared his post, Yankee followed with one of his own.

“William, thank you for giving us both a chance to talk to each other from the bottom of our hearts,” the “Gasolina” singer wrote alongside a photo of Don Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón Rivera. “Don Omar, you have also done great things for this genre and within the rivalry as you rightly said that it divided us, today I am calm knowing that it is behind us and we are an example that we can have differences, but there will always be there is room for forgiveness. You were also a great opponent and I will never stop acknowledging everything you did for our movement.”

He concluded, “I hope our last round is against the enemy of souls, fighting together in the army of the Lord! We await you on this side! God bless you and your family and all your faithful followers.”

Despite their longtime rivalry, the pair have continued to collaborate on several songs over the years including “Gata Gangster,” “La Noche Está Buena” and “Yo Soy de Aquí.” According to Rolling stoneit remains unclear what caused the rivalry — but it began during the rise of reggaeton in the 2000s.

The reconciliation comes after the Yankee announced he was retiring and devoting his life to Christianity to a packed stadium at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan during the final performance of his La Meta tour on his home island.

“My people, this is the most important day of my life. I want to share it … because living a successful life is not the same as living a life with purpose,” he said in Spanish, during a speech that was later posted on Instagram.

The “Limba” singer explained that despite his success in the music industry, he felt a void in his life that he only filled when he started focusing more on his faith.

“That’s why tonight I confess that Jesus lives for me – and I will live for him,” he said, adding “all the tools that I have in my power – like music, social media, my platform, the microphone, everything that God has given me now is for him.”
