Damian Lewis Is Set To Return To “Billions” Season 7 As Bobby Axelrod

Damian Lewis, who left Showtime’s horror thriller Billions last year, is tipped to return. The Emmy-winning artist will reprise his role as Bobby “Ax” Axelrod in the show’s seventh season, which will air later this year. Lewis will appear in the upcoming season, currently in production in New York, alongside Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, and Maggie Siff. Damian Lewis will return as the character Billions.

In the final season of Season 5, titled No Way Home, Lewis’ Axelrod once again flees the police. He eventually disappeared in cloak and dagger form with his possessions and fled to Switzerland to avoid punishment in New York. The epilogue marks Lewis’ departure from the series, but also leaves open the possibility that he will return to the series at some point in the future. His passing in 2021 comes shortly after his wife, actress Helen McCrory, passed away the same year.

Speaking on his departure, the performer said his five-season tenure as Ax was:

“This is probably the time I spent the most time playing a character. It’s hard to keep digging, art… There’s a chance I’ll be able to come back. But for now, Ax has been defeated.”

Season 6 premiered last winter and will end with the season finale on April 10, 2022. The season returns for a seventh season, with Lewis taking on the role of Ax. Billions is currently in production in New York and Lewis’ return was revealed last November when he was spotted filming with his co-stars outside the Tower of London.
