Negreanu moved to Las Vegas to pursue his ambition of becoming a professional poker player. He had a pattern of winning poker in Toronto and losing in Las Vegas. Despite this, he persevered and reached the World Poker Finals in 1997. He was rated the best all-around player. 2004 was the best year of his career, as he reached 11 final tables and earned a huge amount of money.
