Darshan Jariwala made his acting debut with the film Style (2001) in which he played the role of ‘Principal Sardesai’.
Soon after, he appeared in films like Paagalpan (2001) and Xcuse Me (2003). In 2007, he played the much-anticipated role of “Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi” in the film “Gandhi, My Father” (2007), which was widely appreciated by the audience. In interviews, he talked about the physical transformation he underwent to play Gandhi. He focused not only on reducing physical weight, but also on reducing mental burden. He said,
I went through tremendous physical and mental training. I followed a strict diet and lost a lot of weight. I had to exercise, not just to get rid of the physical weight but also to get rid of the mental baggage I had accumulated over a period of time as an actor. ”
