Darvesh Singh was born in 1981 in Etah, Uttar Pradesh (age 38 when he died). Her full name is Darwish Singh Yadav. She received her education from a local school in Etta, UP. She received her Bachelor of Laws degree from Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra (now Agra University). She started practicing law in 2004 and shared an office with Manish Babu Sharma. Manish is her senior in the same college as her.

Darwish Singh Yadav belongs to Other Backward Castes (OBC). She hails from Etta, Uttar Pradesh and her ancestral home is Chandpur, Uttar Pradesh. Her parents died when she was a teenager. Her father is a retired police officer from UP Police. Her mother is a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police. She has a younger brother and a younger sister, Kanchan. After her sister’s mother died while on duty, she got a job as a sub-inspector in the Uttar Pradesh Police. Kanchan completed his police training in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, just three days before Darwish was elected as Bar Council president.

Darvesh started her career practicing medicine with her senior Manish Babu Sharma in Etta. She worked there for 5 years before moving to Agra in 2009. Her career rose quickly. In 2014, she was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council; she was the first woman to be elected as the Vice Chairman of the UP Bar Council.
Many said Darwish was a very kind man. She cared for others, attended funerals of people she knew, visited events she was invited to, and always greeted everyone with a smile. She hopes to become Bar Association President in 2019, and to do so, she must convince everyone in the association to elect her. She also made many changes and improvements to existing systems. She had promised to set up libraries across UP for members of the bar association. She wants compensation for the families of advocates who died in accidents and medical expenses for advocates who fell ill. She also promised to provide chambers for junior advocates.
On June 10, 2019, she was elected as the Chairperson of the UP Bar Council. She was in a tie with another attorney, and it was decided that they would take turns taking on the presidential duties every six months. She was initially slated to be president. As the first woman to become the President of the UP Bar Council, she received appreciation and praise from across India.

On June 12, 2019, Darvesh Singh visited the Agra Civil Court, where he was supposed to congratulate her on her election as president. Her long-time aide Manish Babu Sharma was also present. Manish and Darvesh have not spoken to each other for the past 6 months due to growing differences. Senior lawyer Arvind Mishra was delighted to meet Manish; as he thought he had come to congratulate her and bury their differences.
After meeting junior counsel and other members of the Agra Civil Court, Darwish went to the office of senior advocate Arvind Mishra, where her felicitation ceremony will be held. Darwish and Manish were in his room along with 6-7 supporters. Darwish and Manish began to argue, and Manish suddenly pulled out a gun and shot Darwish three times. Darwish shot her twice in the chest and once in her head. Everyone was shocked and before realizing what was happening, Manish shot himself. They were rushed to Pushpanjali Hospital where Darwish was declared brought dead. Manish is in critical condition and police are waiting for him to improve. Because they wanted to question him. The remains were returned to Etta and cremated at her home.

- On June 13, 2019, the Delhi High Court Bar Council condemned the incident and demanded justice for Darwish Singh Yadav.
- The Bar Association of India issued a letter condemning the entire incident and demanding a compensation of INR 50 cr from the Uttar Pradesh government as compensation to the family of Darwish Singh Yadav.
