DaShawn Barnes Is Featured As A Rita Isbell On “Dahmer -Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story”

In Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, actor DaShawn “Dash” Barnes plays Rita Isbell. Isbell is the older sister of Errol Lindsey, who was killed in April 1991 by serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer. Now, three decades later, as Netflix airs the Dahmer tragedy, the social network is praising Barnes for accurately portraying Rita’s real-life ordeal during Dahmer’s madness trial. On Wednesday, September 21, 2022, a 10-episode limited series premiered on Netflix. It detailed Dahmer’s misconduct, including the deaths of 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, which led to his arrest and conviction.

When Errol Lindsey met Dahmer, he was 19 years old. Dahmer lured him to his apartment and sedated him before drilling a hole in his head. Lindsey may be Dahmer’s first victim that he tries to turn into a “living zombie”. Lindsey was then strangled to death by Dahmer. Rita Isbell was brought to light while reading impact reports from the victim’s family. Fans and netizens alike praised Barnes’ accurate portrayal of Isbelle’s pain and feelings.

DaShawn Barnes, who plays Rita Isbell in Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

DaShawn Barnes is an actress who has starred in such series as This Is Us and Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Barnes went viral when a video of her Isbell shouting at Dahmer during her dementia trial was compared to the real Rita Isbell. The courtroom scene comes from Lionel, volume 8 of the series. While the original Isbell court drama is off, Barnes’ reaction in the adjacent video can be compared to the original footage. Isbell provoked Dahmer and burst into his desk, angrily shouting at how “out of control” he looked.

According to a 1992 AP News story, Isbell said, “People have to sit there and stick together. What he saw in me… was exactly what Errol would do. The only difference is that Errol will ignore it.” At the time of trial, the jury found Jeffrey Dahmer insane and sentenced him to 15 consecutive life sentences. Netizens praised Barnes for portraying Isbella’s pain so realistically.

Still others questioned whether Rita Isbell had indeed been sought and allowed to review the event. Barnes is dressed similarly to Rita Isbell, wearing a shirt with “100% Black” lapels and gold earrings. However, netizens quickly realized that Barnes’ side parted hair was the opposite of Rita Isbell in real life.
